Bob Harper chimes in!

Ok, it is time for me to weigh in on this blog.  For those of you who do not watch The Biggest Loser, I am trainer Bob Harper.  Mary worked hard against a tough break this week.  On the Sunday before the weigh in last week Mary took a fall and sprained, strained or cracked a rib or something that by Tuesday last week was really hurting and made it hard to keep up an exercise routine, but Mary kept at it and exercised as much as she could.

Last week's weigh in was 203.7 lbs.

This week's weigh in was
201.7 lbs
for a total weight loss of 2 lbs
and a percentage of total
weight lost of .98%.

Weigh to go!!!

The Hawaii fund is now $450 and we all know what is just around the corner!

Opps!

Correction to the new rules.  That should have said that there would be a deduction of $50 for any week were there was a loss of less than 1/2 a pound, not one pound.

Better late than never . . . .

Ok, we are little late with the results for the weigh in last Tuesday, July 23rd.

The prior week weigh in was 204.6 lbs.

And the weigh in on July 23rd was
203.7 lbs.
For a weight loss of .9 lbs and a percentage of
weight loss of
.44%.

We also promised some changes to Mary's Biggest Loser contest rules.  Instead of a 16 week plan with a goal of 2 lbs per week, we are switching to at least a 32 week plan with a goal of 1 pound per week.

For every week that there is at least a 1 lb weight loss, Mary's Hawaii trip fund goes up $100 dollars.  For any week where there is a weight loss of less than one pound it goes down $50.  In order to get the fund Mary's weight loss has to average 1 lb per week at the end of the contest.  As Mary noted, this has the added advantage of keeping her reporting how she is doing through the holidays.

Based on the new rules for the first 6 weigh ins, Mary's Hawaii trip fund, is now:

$350
Over the 6 weeks, Mary has lost 10.4 lbs.
or 4.9% of her total weight.

The weigh in and maybe some changes to come . . .

Weight last week was 206.1 lbs.

And the weigh in this week was 204.6 lbs for a weight loss of
1.5 lbs
and a percentage of weight loss of
.7%.

Since the start of the program Mary's average weight loss per week has been 2.1 lbs (helped a lot by the first week's big weight loss.)  We are thinking of some changes in the contest. While rules are not made to be broken, rules you make up yourself can certainly be changed.  More on that tomorrow.

I've got nothing to say about this week.
Mary's probably heard all she wants to from me today!

Last week's weigh in was 206.4 lbs.

This weeks weigh in was 206.1.

For a total weight loss of .3 lbs
and a percentage of weight lost
of .15%.

With less than a 1 lb loss this week Mary's Hawaii fund is now:
$100

and shrinking!!!!

But to paraphrase Anne of Green Gables,
"Next week is always fresh with no mistakes in it."

The bad news and the good news.....

I'm back.

A couple of things happened this week.  First, Mary wanted to take the best out of two weights between the scheduled Tuesday morning weigh in and Wednesday.  So, OK, we did that.

I think the results have shown us two things about Mary this past week.  First, she was not consistently exercising every day at least 60 minutes of tough cardio workout and she was not counting and meeting the Weight Watcher points every day.  Maybe more importantly it also showed us that she has what it takes to do it when she wants to.  The weigh in Tuesday would have been a weight gain, and the weigh in Wednesday was:

206.4 lbs

down 1.5 lbs from last week and down .72%.
After the results Tuesday morning Mary pushed herself hard to get to the top of Briggs and went to YMCA for a good workout and did everything right.  And she lost over 1.5 lbs in one day.  Maybe Tuesday was higher than it should be for some reason, but even so she made a big difference in one day.

But this contest is not going to be won by great "last chance workouts" and one or two days of eating right before the weigh in.  This is going to be won, and Mary is going to get her health and her life back, by working hard and eating right every damn day.  No excuses!!!!  So here is to next week and consistency.
$200 dollars and holding!

to be continued . . . . .

Weigh in on hold . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Since no one was available as an official monitor of Mary's weigh in today, she has asked to be able to put the weigh in on hold till Wednesday morning when Kevin and Gretchen will be at Panorama for the weigh in.  We are allowing a little allowance in the rules which is highly irregular and no doubt causes some suspicion that Mary was not happy with the results today.

On the other hand Mary called to report this morning that she was at the mountain lion warning sign at the top of Briggs.  A big milestone on a more aggressive training plan that Mary is working on.

We will all keep our fingers crossed for a good weigh in tomorrow, and Kevin and Gretchen will be good trainers for the time that they are with Mary this week.
